2005 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges) Burghound, 1/1/2007, 1st Quarter, 2007, Allen Meadows (web) 87-90 An unusually complex nose for a Nuits villages that displays a pretty mix of earthy red and black fruit plus spice and game hints that introduce rich, full and sweet flavors that culminate in a supple, forward and sappy finish. There is good balance with ample finishing drive. Excellent quality here. (drink starting 2012)

2005 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges) View From the Cellar, 11/1/2006, Nov/Dec 2006, John Gilman 90 The 2005 Nuits AC is lovely (and almost supple!), as it offers up a refined and complex bouquet of plums, black cherries, chocolate, vinesmoke and a complex base of Nuits soil. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, long and focused, with bright acids, fine depth for a village wine, modest tannins and impressive shape and focus on the long, tangy finish. This will be atypically approachable out of the blocks for a young Gouges Nuits AC, and will make a splendid bottle. (drink 2010-2030)
