2009 Chateau Germain Bourgogne Rose Vieilles Vignes

    REVIEWS

Robert Parkers The Wine Adovcate reviews the first vintage 2008 of the Germain Rose. This is the second vintage 2009.

At the inspired behest of American importer Didier Simonin, and from old vines planted with a so-called “Pinot droit” clone “60% of whose fruit,” he confesses, “I was trashing,” Germain has rendered a 2008 Bourgogne Rose Vieilles Vignes that must be tasted to be believed, and whose success he hopes to replicate every year. Vintage-typical aromas of pink grapefruit (at least, typical for 2008 white Burgundy!) mingle with Chorey-typical high-toned cherry and almond, to be joined by watermelon on a palate as luscious, exuberant and refreshing as that of any pink wine you are likely to have tasted. Two hundred cases can’t go far, but search for some of this and enjoy it between now and summer’s end! 90pts
