Allen Meadows Burghound 91
1993 Domaine du Château de Chorey (Germain) Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru) Burghound, 1/31/2000, Allen Meadows (web) 91 Pure pinot fruit mixed with earth, minerals and hints of underbrush lead to rich, intense and sculpted flavors that possess a truly gorgeous mouthfeel and outstanding length. There is good punch and energy here with more power than one usually find in Beaune. Lovely stuff already though it clearly will benefit from another 5 years or perhaps even a bit more of bottle age.
John Gilman View from the Cellar 92
1993 Domaine du Château de Chorey (Germain) Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru) View From the Cellar, 1/1/2007, Jan/Feb 2007, John Gilman 92 The 1993 Beaune “Theurons” from the Domaine Germain is just beginning to blossom, and offers up a very deep, very pure and complex and intensely flavored expression of Beaune. The bouquet offers up a superb blend of dark berries, touch of eucalyptus, Christmas spice, woodsmoke, soil tones and a touch of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and beautifully transparent, with modest tannins, great acidity, a rock solid core, and fine length and grip on the long, focused and tangy finish. An excellent bottle of Beaune that will continue to improve over the next several years and clearly last another twenty. Superb juice. (drink 2006-2025)
